- Q: How to service the right-hand exhaust manifold on 2007 Mercury Montego?A: Start the service of the right-hand exhaust manifold by positioning the vehicle in neutral on a hoist. Perform this work by first taking off the right-hand catalytic converter then disabling power to the heated oxygen sensor (HO2S) electrical connector. Begin the right-hand exhaust manifold heat shield removal process by unbolting its three components using 11 Nm (8 lb-ft) torque while installing them back with the same strength. For reinstalling the exhaust manifold it is essential to tighten the EGR system module tube against the exhaust manifold to 40 Nm (30 lb-ft). After discarding six right-hand manifold exhaust nuts install them with a torque of 20 Nm (15 lb-ft). Replace and discard the three rear cylinder head studs before reinstalling brand new ones that should be tightened to 12 Nm (9 lb-ft). Extraction of the right-hand exhaust manifold with its gasket requires disposal of the gasket. Finally, remove the three rear studs and discard them but reinstall them with a torque of 12 Nm (9 lb-ft). You need to use fresh hardware consisting of an exhaust manifold gasket together with studs and nuts while performing the installation by following the removal steps in reverse order.
