2007 Mercury Mountaineer Wheel Bearing Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to service the front wheel bearing and wheel hub on 2007 Mercury Mountaineer?
A: The process of front wheel bearing and wheel hub service starts with placing the vehicle in neutral mode on a hoist system for service. The brake hose must always be free from support of the caliper and anchor plate assembly to protect from damage. Take out the bolting system which fastens caliper pad anchoring plate assembly then put them aside before disposing of the bolts. The mechanic's wire should support the assembly while the bolts need to be torqued to 165 Nm (122 ft. lbs.) during reinstallation. Examine the positioning of the wheel speed sensor around the brake disc before cleaning the area. Then detach the sensor bolt and disconnect the sensor from the wheel bearing and hub assembly. Tighten the sensor by 18 Nm after installing it. The service requires the removal of the three wheel bearing and hub assembly bolts followed by their disposal. The service completion requires following the reverse engineering process after tightening new bolts to 122 Nm (90 ft. lbs.) for reinstallation. The replacement parts should have matching part numbers or at least equivalent quality and you must use specified torque values during assembly to maintain suspension integrity.
