  A: The first step for servicing the evaporator core includes checking for leaks through vacuum testing followed by refrigerant recovery. During the service of 4.6L, 5.4L or 6.8L engine vehicles you must detach the air cleaner assembly together with the battery and battery tray followed by tightening the battery tray bolts to 28 Nm (21 lb-ft) before reinstalling.
