2008 Ford Edge Brake Light Switch Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service the brake light switch on 2008 Ford Edge?
A: Service of the brake light switch begins with disconnecting the electric connector from the stoplamp switch. The stoplamp switch needs to be oriented properly before removal but applying 1-4 N (1-3 lb) of pressure on the brake pedal will successfully lower the plunger. Depress the brake pedal to activate the switch plunger before you can remove the stoplamp switch by pulling the brake pedal rearward and rotating the switch 45 degrees clockwise. The stoplamp switch requires proper installation which should exclude all contact with the brake pedal assembly to avoid breaking the switch. The installation of the stoplamp switch must exclude modifying the brake pedal assembly while rotating it by 45 degrees against the clock before reattaching the electrical connector.
