How to service the headlight bulb on 2008 Ford Expedition?

Service of the headlamp bulb requires placement of both headlamp switch and ignition switch in the OFF position. All vehicles require headlamp assembly removal as the first step. The headlamp bulb in the Expedition requires a 1/8 turn in the counterclockwise direction to release it from the headlamp unit. The HID bulb access cover must be removed first with subsequent removal of two screws that secure the HID bulb and disconnection of the electrical connector. Follow the opposite steps used during bulb removal for installing the new bulb. Handle the bulb with caution because its compressed gas needs gentle handling and keeps it from breaking due to scrim damage on the glass envelope; hold the bulb by its base and steer clear of touching the glass.
