How to remove and replace the camshaft on 2008 Ford F-150?

One must start the process of replacing the camshaft by extracting all valve tappets. The timing chain tensioner does not need removal for the procedure. First uninstall the timing drive elements and afterwards take out the engine dynamic balance shaft drive gear. The process starts with removing the camshaft Woodruff key and bolts together with the camshaft thrust plate until you can remove the camshaft spacer followed by extracting the camshaft. A clean engine oil lubricant should be applied to the camshaft before reinstalling it into the engine block. Position the camshaft spacer before adding the thrust plate and its bolts which must be tightened to 11 Nm (8 lb-ft). You should install the camshaft Woodruff key while positioning the engine dynamic balance shaft Woodruff key at 12 o'clock and the camshaft Woodruff key at 6 o'clock. The engine dynamic balance shaft drive gear must go onto the camshaft with the timing marks of both components properly aligned. Reinstall both the timing drive components together with valve tappets.
