2008 Ford Focus Water Pump Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to Service and Repair the Water Pump on 2008 Ford Focus?
A: A hoisted vehicle positioned in NEUTRAL should receive service and repair of the coolant pump. You should detach the coolant expansion tank by removing its 2 bolts then place it aside until installation when you need to tighten it to 4 Nm (35 lb-in). Lifting the engine belt past the coolant pump pulley requires first loosening its 3 retaining bolts. The service process requires draining the cooling system prior to removing the 3 coolant pump pulley bolts and pulley. After installation the pulley needs to be torques to 20 Nm (15 lb-ft). After dismantling three bolts from the coolant pump you should take out the pump before tightening it to 10 Nm (89 lb-in) when reinstalling. The new coolant pump O-ring seal should get lubrication using clean engine coolant before you reverse the pump removal steps for installation. Permitting the cooling system to fill while bleeding it ensures completion of this service operation.
