2008 Ford Mustang Turn Signal Switch Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to service and repair the turn signal switch and the steering column multifunction switch on 2008 Ford Mustang?
A: Maintenance and repair of the turn signal switch and steering column multifunction switch requires the instrument cluster finish panel removal first. This panel stays secured through the retaining clips that anchor to the bezel. The next steps require you to remove the floor console finish panel together with the LH A-pillar lower trim panel and the left center stack wing. Start by removing the two screws which fasten the steering column opening cover before disconnecting both headlamp and courtesy light switch electrical connections. Proceed to remove the four bolts that secure the steering column opening cover reinforcement but do not exceed torque of 9 Nm (80 lb-in) when reinstalling these bolts. Use caution to push the sides of the upper steering column shroud outward before removing its screws and the shroud. The process concludes with the removal of three lower steering column shroud screws and the shroud. The turn signal/headlamp switch electrical connector needs to be disconnected before removing its two screws for withdrawal. To obtain access to the windshield wiper/washer switch the electrical connector must be unfastened first followed by removing two screws before taking out the switch. The installation requires performing the reverse steps of removal.
