2009 Ford Mustang Turn Signal Switch Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to service and repair the turn signal switch and the steering column multifunction switch on 2009 Ford Mustang?
A: A service or repair of the turn signal switch and steering column multifunction switch requires starting with instrument cluster finish panel removal through its retaining clips that attach to the bezel. As the next step remove the floor console finish panel as well as the LH A-pillar lower trim panel and the left center stack wing. Detach the two screws from the steering column opening cover and disconnect electrical cables for both headlamp and courtesy lights from their connectors. The next step requires removing the four bolts which secure the steering column opening cover reinforcement and readjusting these bolts to 9 Nm (80 lb-in) when reinstalling. Instruction starts with pushing the steering column shroud sides gently inward before removing the upper component. Next remove the lower component by unplugging its screws then its shroud. The turn signal/headlamp switch electrical connector needs disconnection before the removal of two screws to extract the turn signal/headlamp switch. First disconnect the electrical connection for the windshield wiper/washer switch before unfastening the two screws that allow removal of the switch itself. The installation ends by following the exact opposite steps used for removing the turn signal/headlamp switch and windshield wiper/washer switch.
