2008 Lincoln Mark LT Fuel Rail Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: What are the crucial safety precautions and steps to follow when servicing the fuel rail on 2008 Lincoln Mark LT?
A: The process of servicing a fuel rail requires both open flame and smoking restrictions near fuel components because highly flammable mixtures exist and a fuel system pressure relief must occur before disconnecting any fuel tubes or components to stop accidental fuel spraying. Start by taking off the battery ground cable and subsequently removing both air components. Beginning the HVAC repair starts with removing the fuel vapor quick connect fitting from the evaporative emission canister purge valve followed by removing the heated PCV valve electrical connector and the PCV tube quick connect coupling from the intake manifold. Additionally, disconnect the electronic throttle control electrical connector and the throttle position sensor electrical connector and the vacuum hose near the rear of the right-hand valve cover. Very carefully disconnect the fuel rail pressure and temperature sensor electrical connector together with its attached vacuum hose and then proceed to disconnect the eight fuel injector electrical connectors along with the spring lock couplings at the fuel rail. When reinstalling the fuel rail bolts use 10 Nm (89 lb-in) torque whereas installation requires exact tightening of 10 Nm (89 lb-in). During fuel injector installation the injectors need to fit entirely within the cup holes before applying engine oil to new O-ring seals which must be installed onto each injector. When plugging in or removing the fuel rail pressure and temperature sensor for replacement use 4 Nm torque (35 lb-in) to tighten its two securing bolts. Reverse the removal procedure while inspecting the O-ring seal and replace it if required before netting the installation.
