2008 Lincoln Mark LT Shift Interlock Solenoid Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to Service and Repair the Floor Shift Interlock Solenoid on 2008 Lincoln Mark LT?
A: The repair process for Brake Shift Interlock Actuator (BSIA) in a floor shift configuration starts by taking out left side kick panel from floor console followed by lifting the console storage lid before removing the console finish panel. Disembark the selector lever cable from its points of attachment that include the arm of the selector lever and the selector lever cable bracket. Start with the selector lever bolt removal step followed by electrical connector detachment from the selector lever and complete the process by removing the lever from the vehicle. The wire harness base of the selector lever must have its tie strap cut before disconnecting both the electrical connector and the overdrive cancel button electrical connector. The bulb removal and tie strap cutting and double screw loosening process constitutes the removal of the BSIA. After proper positioning of the BSIA the component can be secured by two screws before reinserting the bulb into the housing and adding a new wire harness strap. Begin by attaching the electrical connector then the overdrive cancel button electrical connector before installing another new tie strap to the wire harness. You must return the selector lever assembly to its console position before tightening two bolts to 12 Nm (9 lb-ft). The cable end of the selector lever should be installed properly by executing these steps: first lock the locking tabs and then snap the cable end onto the ball stud and push the end into the bracket until it clicks before checking if it remains locked. As the last step complete the connection of selector lever cable to selector lever arm and reinstall both the console finish panel along with left console kick panel.
