  A: The service procedure for the Evaporative Emission (EVAP) Canister starts with placing the vehicle in NEUTRAL position on a hoist then disconnecting the battery ground cable to prevent electrical sparks that could ignite fuel vapors. Begin the EVAP canister assembly service by removing the spare tire because the assembly sits above it. The first step requires removal of the fuel vapor tube quick connect coupling along with the fuel vapor hose. Secure both bolts that hold front EVAP canisters using 13 Nm torque before instillation. First remove the two outer rear EVAP canister assembly bracket bolts before tightening them to 20 Nm (15 lb-ft) while installing them and then torque the two inner rear EVAP canister assembly bracket bolts to a full 13 Nm (10 lb-ft). To disassemble the EVAP canister assembly set it slightly lower while removing its vent solenoid electrical connector and the solenoid harness pushpin retainer. First detach the EVAP canister assembly then remove its heat shield afterward disconnect the tube fuel vapor hose of the assembly and filter. Follow the same order for reinstallation by placing the EVAP canister back into the EVAP assembly then proceeding with the original step reversals.
