- Q: How to service and repair the rear right (RH) parking brake cable on 2008 Lincoln MKX?A: The rear right (RH) parking brake cable maintenance should begin with a vehicle placement on a hoist operating in NEUTRAL position. Relax pressure inside the parking brake cable through the equalizer adjustment nut before removing the RH parking brake cable from the equalizer. The RH parking brake cable should be detached from its bracket by squeezing its tabs. On AWD vehicles begin by removing the wheel speed sensor bolt and place the sensor to the side before reinstallation with a torque of 7 Nm (62 lb-in). First disconnect the cable from the lever by removing its two support plate bolts while tightening the assembly to 23 Nm (17 lb-ft) torque. After removing the stabilizer bar link nut you should place the bar link aside while tightening it to 35 Nm (26 lb-ft) during reinstallation. You must remove the four parking brake cable bracket bolts then detach the parking brake cable before reinstalling both components tightly at 23 Nm (17 lb-ft). Follow the reverse order of removal to fit the new cable and perform necessary adjustments on the parking brake cable.
