2008 Lincoln MKZ A/C Hose Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to service and repair the A/C Hose and thermostatic expansion valve manifold and tube assembly on all on 2008 Lincoln MKZ?
A: Vehicle technicians must begin refrigerant recovery when performing servicing and repair of the thermostatic expansion valve manifold and tube assembly. The power steering reservoir requires detachment from its bracket before placement to the side for 3.5L vehicles. Initiate the TXV manifold removal by taking out the bracket bolt with special attention to re-tightening it to 8 Nm (71 lb-in) after assembly. The TXV manifold and tube assembly requires removal of the wire harness clip followed by removal of the condenser-to-evaporator line fitting nut while discarding its gasket seal before securing this fitting to 15 Nm (11 lb-ft) upon installation. The next step involves taking off the compressor manifold and tube suction fitting nut then separating the fitting and throwing out the gasket seal before tightening to 15 Nm (11 lb-ft). Remove the A/C pressure transducer electrical connector before unclipping the wire harness which leads to the TXV manifold and tube. Use a wrench to untighten and remove the TXV fitting nut then disconnect the fitting before discarding the gasket seals during a new installation while tightening the fitting to 15 Nm (11 lb-ft). To install replace the TXV manifold and tube components follow the removal process while adding new gasket seals and adding the right amount of clean PAG oil to the refrigerant system. The process ends by removing the system from vacuum then performing a leak test and finally adding the proper charge of refrigerant.
