2008 Lincoln Navigator A/C Expansion Valve Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to Service the A/C Expansion Valve on 2008 Lincoln Navigator?
A: Positioning the Expedition EL or Navigator L on a hoist while setting it to neutral position is the first step before servicing the A/C expansion valve. First recover the refrigerant before removing and discarding the gasket seals from the auxiliary evaporator outlet and inlet line rear fitting nut. Tighten new gasket seals to 12 Nm (9 lb-ft) upon their installation. The process requires first removing the two bolts securing the A/C expansion valve. Afterward, you can take out the A/C expansion valve and discard the O-ring seals. Use new O-ring seals and gasket seals with correct PAG oil lubrication before installation of the new A/C expansion valve and tighten its bolts to 8 Nm (71 lb-in). Complete the work by evacuating then performing leak tests before charging the refrigerant system.
