- Q: How to remove and replace the Engine Control Module on 2008 Lincoln Navigator?A: The programming configuration requires retrieval based on the procedure for Programmable Module Installation before starting the Engine Control Module replacement process. First disconnect the battery ground cable and also detach the two PCM electrical connectors. First detach the ground cable and two bolts before removing the PCM unit. When installing the system begin by using the reverse order of removal starting with the PCM installation followed by ground cable placement then securing the unit with two bolts at 7 Nm (62 lb-in). The installation process now requires you to connect all three PCM electrical connectors as well as restore the battery ground connection. After installing a fresh PCM the air bag warning indicator will become visible when you turn the ignition switch to ON and persist until the PCM configuration restoration starts. Proceed with the PCM Programmable Module Installation and then eliminate all DTCs from the restraints control module as well as recover the module setting through the specified process.
