2008 Lincoln Town Car Coolant Reservoir Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service and repair the coolant reservoir on 2008 Lincoln Town Car?
A: A coolant reservoir repair or service must begin with engine temperature reduction before cooling system opening because the system maintains pressure which might result in dangerous steam and hot liquid bursts. Start the process by loosening the coolant system pressure through counterclockwise rotation of the pressure relief cap by one half turn while removing the cap. Hose clamp pliers should clamp the degas bottle supply hose while a suitable suction device removes coolant from the bottle. Disconnect both degas bottle supply and overflow tubings while removing its securing bolt. The installation completion requires tightening the degas bottle to 10 Nm (89 lb-in). When installing the degas bottle it should be done with worm-style clamps as constant tension clamps should not be reused. The installation concludes through a reverse of the removal steps with a proper coolant mixture inserted into the degas bottle up to its recommended fill mark.
