2008 Lincoln Town Car Fan Motor Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to Address Issues with the Fan Motor in the Radiator Cooling System of a 2008 Lincoln Town Car?
A: Before servicing the radiator cooling fan motor with its shroud first drain out all cooling system fluid. The power steering reservoir restraining bolt requires removal before the part should be placed aside. The reinstall process requires bolting the component tightly to 10 Nm (89 lb-in). First disconnect both degas bottle hoses before removing its retaining bolt and reinstall it with a torque of 10 Nm (89 lb-in). Start by detaching the upper radiator hose then put it aside. Next, disconnect the transmission cooler tubes from both the cooling fan motor and shroud. The electrical connector of the cooling fan motor must be detached with the lower radiator hose at least one inch away from both the motor and the shroud. The two bolts that secure the cooling fan motor and shroud should be tightened back to 7 Nm (62 lb-in) when reattaching this assembly. The removal process should end with filling and bleeding of the cooling system.
