You need to access the armrest-to-backrest bolts through the lower J-strip opening by partially turning the backrest trim cover and removing all four armrest-to-backrest bolts and the support plate. For fitting the armrest position it horizontally before securing the bolts to a torque point of 10 Nm (89 lb-in). Position the armrest assembly with bracket apart from the backrest portion before setting them aside while maintaining alignment of the armrest bracket tab with the frame during final reassembly. The armrest trim cover panel and its assembly can be removed by releasing the four pin-type retainers so you can get to the backrest. Replacing a damaged retainer requires pushing the remaining end through the backrest frame before installation of a new pin-type retainer.
