2009 Ford E-150 Brake Booster Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service and repair the vacuum brake booster on 2009 Ford E-150?
A: Start vacuum brake booster repair services by taking out the brake master cylinder. The proper first step to remove the stoplamp switch requires lowering the brake pedal to an at-rest position while compressing the switch plunger for bracket rotation because switching it with the plunger extended risks damaging the switch. Secondly disconnect the brake booster check valve as the next step. Start by taking off the brake booster push rod through removal of its cotter pin cover and cotter pin and spacer before disconnecting it from the brake pedal pin. Tighten new brake boosters to 25 Nm (18 lb-ft) torque when installing them while completing the breakdown of the four brake booster nuts followed by the brake booster itself. The installation of the stoplamp switch requires the booster push rod to be connected to the brake pedal while it remains in the at-rest position to prevent misadjustment and damage to the braking system. During installation complete the brake booster replacement before applying the brakes repeatedly to check authentic functionality.
