2009 Ford E-150 Heater Core Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service the auxiliary heater core on 2009 Ford E-150?
A: Service of the auxiliary heater core begins with draining the engine coolant. Vehicle models with quarter trim panels require removal of rear seats as the first step before accessing the left-hand rear quarter trim panel and then the body side trim finish panel by detaching its pin-type retainers. Start by disconnecting the electrical connector from the powerpoint and peel the rear seat shoulder strap opening covers off their mounting positions in the upper trim panels. To reach the three pin-type retainers on the trim panel you must first remove the rear door weather strip from the rear door opening. The extended wagon requires users to remove the rear upper quarter trim panel afterward the screw and three pin-type retainers are removed so they can lift it off. The lower quarter trim panel can be removed from the body side after separating five screws (for extended wagons) or three screws (regular wagons) as well as freeing up three pin-type retainers. The removal of window latches becomes necessary for all vehicles that have these components and this process includes two screws for the latches and the unfastening of the latches themselves. You should first disconnect the heater core by unscrewing its six screws followed by loosening the clamps and disconnecting the heater hoses from the heater core unit while watching for coolant leakage into the interior section. Start by removing the heater core case seal and afterward the heater core itself for removal. Reinstall the engine cooling system before performing the reverse steps of heater core removal.
