  • Q: How to service the A/C Hose from the compressor to the condenser on 2009 Ford Edge?
    A: The procedure to service the compressor-to-condenser discharge line starts with recovering refrigerant while positioning the vehicle on a hoist in NEUTRAL. Disconnect and remove the fitting nut on the compressor-to-condenser discharge line before removing its fitting as well as discarding the O-ring seal so that you can reinstall and tighten the fitting to 8 Nm (71 lb-in). Before accessing the condenser side remove the front bumper cover then drain engine coolant and detach the upper radiator hose clamp following upper hose detachment from the radiator. First dismantle the compressor-to-condenser discharge line bracket bolt before reinstallation while tightening this bolt to 7 Nm (62 lb-in). Start by disconnecting the A/C pressure transducer electrical connector and detaching the two radiator brackets from the core support to put the radiator in a rearward position. Then remove the condenser inlet fitting bolt, disconnect the fitting and discard the O-ring seal and tighten to 6 Nm (53 lb-in) when installing. The compressor-to-condenser discharge line-to-radiator clip should be detached while the condenser side compressor-to-condenser discharge line also needs removal. The compressor side requires belt removal from the A/C compressor pulley together with disconnection of the clutch field coil electrical connector and the RH inner fender splash shield removal. To change the fitting remove the compressor-to-condenser discharge line bracket nut and the A/C compressor discharge fitting bolt which will allow the fitting removal while also discarding the O-ring seal so tighten the fitting to 9 Nm (80 lb-in) after installation. Reinstallation of both lines requires a reversal of removal steps using new O-rings which have received clean PAG oil lubrication and a proper amount of clean PAG oil in the refrigerant system followed by evacuation procedures and refrigerant system leak tests before refrigerant charging.
