2009 Ford Escape A/C Condenser Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to Service the A/C Condenser Core for 2.5L and 3.0L (4V) Engines on 2009 Ford Escape?
A: A service of the condenser core requires a vehicle in neutral positioning on a hoist for 2.5L and 3.0L (4V) engines. Retrieve the refrigerant before removing the front bumper cover and four radiator bracket bolts which should be tightened to 8 Nm (71 lb-in) upon reinstalling them. The service process requires removal of right-hand and left-hand radiator brackets together with outlet and inlet fitting nut separation where discarded O-ring and gasket seals are followed by new fitting installation at 15 Nm torque. The transmission cooler hose inlet which functions as the upper tube must connect to the transmission outlet line positioned on the passenger side of automatic vehicles and the lower tube serving as the transmission cooler outlet should connect to the transmission inlet line residing on the driver side. The A/C condenser requires disconnecting the two transmission cooler lines through the release of clamps. The two condenser bolts require removal while tightening them to 7 Nm (62 lb-in) before condenser core extracting. The installation requires the same reverse sequence where new gasket seals and O-ring seals must be fitted before applying the correct amount of clean PAG oil for lubrication and finally performing an evacuation and leak test followed by refrigerant charging.
