Testing electrical connectors on air bag and Safety Canopy(R) and side air curtain modules should be avoided since accidental module deployment represents a fatal risk to health. When the correct Restraints Control Module (RCM) fuse is extracted and the ignition is ON, the air bag warning indicator will become visible. Operationally check and verify that all Supplemental Restraint System functions properly with no faults before handing over the vehicle to the customer. Begin by depowering the SRS. Insert the recommended tool which could be a 3-mm Allen wrench into the driver air bag module release hole located under the steering wheel. The steering wheel wire clip should not suffer damage by checking that all three driver air bag module hooks have been released during removal. Insert the tool underneath the wire clip so it can push the hooks apart. Remove the driver air bag module by disconnecting both electrical connectors from the horn and the two driver air bag module connectors. After connecting the driver air bag module to the horn electrical connectors one should ensure the wiring harness avoids the driver air bag module hooks. Guide the hooks of the steering wheel into place before correctly positioning them. Use gentle outward stretching of the corners of the driver air bag module hooks to verify proper seating of all hooks before checking if the air bag module and trim operate correctly while pushing the horn. Finally, repower the SRS.
