If the vehicle has been in a crash service the restraints control module (RCM) and impact sensor mounting locations for deformation and restore them to their original design if necessary. New RCM and sensors must be installed regardless of air bag activation because of injury risks in a crash situation. The installation of new RCM sensors together with sensors is mandatory regardless of air bag deployment status because it prevents fatal injuries or death in a crash. The procedure should start with disarming all components of the Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) before proceeding. The first step involves removing the C-pillar trim panel followed by disconnecting its electrical connector before removing the side impact sensor bolt.
