The Ball Joint Separator enables the removal of the wheel knuckle from the outer tie-rod end before separating the tie rod. First remove the jam nut from the tie-rod end before discarding both boot clamps and the steering gear boot. A suitable tool should hold the steering gear rack during inner tie-rod end removal before installing it at 90 Nm (66 lb-ft) tension keeping pressure on the steering gear rack.
