2009 Ford Expedition Coolant Reservoir Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to Service the Coolant Reservoir on 2009 Ford Expedition?
A: Prior to servicing the coolant expansion tank service engineers should let the engine cool because atmospheric pressure could result in engine destruction. A suitable suction device should be used to drain the coolant from the coolant expansion tank. Once the exploratory sequence begins it is essential to first remove the Air Cleaner element then proceed with removing both the hood sensor and nut. The first step requires opening the coolant overflow hose from the radiator and using a wrench to remove the two bolts that secure the coolant expansion tank and lower ACL housing assembly. Reinstall the components by tightening bolts to 15 Nm (133 lb-in) while following the reversal of removal steps. The coolant expansion tank requires 50/50 water and coolant solution before adding clean drinkable water.
