2009 Ford Expedition Power Steering Pump Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to service and repair the power steering pump on 2009 Ford Expedition?
A: The power steering pump service requires users to remove its pulley before proceeding. The extract of power steering fluid requires a proper suction device to work from the reservoir. Unclamp and then disconnect the power steering fluid reservoir-to-pump supply hose before unscrewing the power steering pressure line bracket-to-engine nut when placing it back ensure proper torque is 40 Nm (30 lb-ft). After taking off the power steering pressure line from its fitting you should dispose of the old Teflon(R) seal while tightening the new fitting to 65 Nm (48 lb-ft) torque settings during engine assembly. The power steering pump has three securing bolts which must be removed before tightening them to 25 Nm (18 lb-ft) torque during reinstallation. The reinstall process starts with using the Teflon(R) Seal Installer Set to place a fresh Teflon(R) seal on the pressure line-to-pump fitting followed by filling the power steering system.
