2009 Ford Focus Intake Manifold Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to service and repair the intake manifold on 2009 Ford Focus?
A: The vehicle service and repair procedure starts by positioning it on a hoist with neutral selected. The service procedure starts by taking out the air cleaner (ACL) outlet pipe until the removal of the front impact severity sensor and transaxle fluid indicator. The service begins by taking out the lower intake manifold bolt while the same step removes the oil level indicator and its attached tube. Untangled the electrical connector of the engine oil pressure (EOP) switch before separating the wire harness retainer from the starter stud bolt. Use the quick release locking ring's depression to pull out the power brake booster vacuum tube and the electronic throttle control electrical connector and fuel vapor return hose. The installation requires you to disconnect the main fold absolute pressure sensor electrical connector along with the knock sensor electrical connector and also disconnect the swirl control valve solenoidal connector and its sensor connector when present. First detach all wiring harness pin-type retainers from the intake manifold before carefully loosening the two bolts which support the crash bracket while retaining it on the manifold. Take out the intake manifold after detaching its remaining five bolts and cutting the PCV hose lines. Technical teams must examine the intake manifold for metal fragments when engine repair or replacement happens due to upper engine failure and need to use a fresh manifold during installation if metal deposits exist. The intake manifold installation requires new gaskets which need to be placed before positioning the manifold properly and attaching the PCV hose. The manifold requires connection to both the KS component and its electrical wiring system. Use the hand to secure the two intake manifold bolts; afterwards, fasten the five mounting bolts while torquing all seven bolts to 18 Nm (159 lb-in). First reestablish the pin-type connectors on all wiring harnesses before connecting solenoids and sensor wires for swirl control valves when present and attaching the MAP sensor electrical connector. The power brake booster vacuum tube should be inserted into the quick release fitting first before connecting the fuel vapor return hose and the electronic throttle control electrical connector. After connecting the EOP switch electrical connector the wire harness retainer needs to be installed onto the starter stud bolt. Next insert the oil level indicator together with its tube before securing the lower intake manifold bolt at 18 Nm (159 lb-in). The last steps include installing the transaxle fluid indicator alongside the front impact severity sensor and the ACL outlet pipe.
