2008 Ford Focus Intake Manifold Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service and repair the intake manifold on 2008 Ford Focus?
A: First service and repair operations on the intake manifold require positioning the vehicle on a hoist while it should be in NEUTRAL gear. The first step includes air cleaner outlet pipe removal and then moving on to separate the RH impact severity sensor and transaxle fluid indicator. After you remove the lower intake manifold bolt you must take out the oil level indicator tube together with its companion which is the lower manifold. First detach the wire harness retainer from the starter stud bolt while also disconnecting the engine oil pressure (EOP) switch electrical connector. Follow the steps of depressing the quick release locking ring to disconnect the electronic throttle control electrical connector as well as the fuel vapor return hose and the power brake booster vacuum tube. Use your instruments to disconnect the manifold absolute pressure (MAP) sensor electrical connector as well as the knock sensor (KS) electrical connector and the swirl control valve solenoid and sensor electrical connectors if your vehicle has these components. All wiring harness pin-type retainers should be detached from the intake manifold followed by gently loosening the two intake manifold bolts which have different lengths to retain a crash bracket. First disconnect the PCV hose then remove the five bolts from the intake manifold bolts to extract the component. Used gaskets need replacement before you install the intake manifold. Position the intake manifold first followed by PCV hose reconnection while you install the KS to the manifold and connect its electrical connector. Begin with hand tightening the two intake manifold bolts before installing the five mounting bolts while tightening all bolts to 18 Nm (13 lb-ft). Refit all harness pin connectors while you link the swirl control valve sensor and solenoid wires when equipped along with the MAP sensor electrical connector. The power brake booster vacuum tube should be reinstalled into the quick release fitting before the fuel vapor return hose and the electronic throttle control electrical connector. The EOP switch electrical connector needs to be connected while the wire harness retainer needs to be secured to the starter stud bolt. You should install the lower intake manifold bolt at 18 Nm torque and secure it to 13 lb-ft followed by the air cleaner outlet pipe and transaxle fluid indicator and RH impact severity sensor and oil level indicator and tube.
