Place the vehicle on a hoist while in NEUTRAL before finishing adjustment of the parking brake cable adjustment nut to its ultimate thread length. You should support the exhaust pipe to protect the exhaust flexible pipe before installing new exhaust tailpipe and muffler assembly nuts. Start by setting the exhaust tailpipe and muffler assembly to the side along with removing and discarding the muffler flange nuts. To install the new nuts apply torque to 47 Nm (35 lb-ft) and remove the hanger isolators. Start by removing the exhaust center hanger isolator then break free 4 nuts holding the exhaust center heat shield before removing 5 nuts on the exhaust rear heat shield which is attached to the floor panel.
