2009 Ford Mustang Engine Control Module Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to remove and replace the Engine Control Module (ECM) on 2009 Ford Mustang?
A: The Powertrain Control Module (PCM) replacement process does not need new keys so have all customer keys available during installation. The Programmable Module Installation procedure must be used to obtain the module configuration. First disconnect all three PCM electrical connectors before using a wrench to remove two bolts holding the PCM module. Then pull out the PCM from its position. Placement of the PCM should be followed by bolt installation using two bolts that need tightening until they reach 8 Nm (71 lb-in). Reinstall the three PCM electrical connectors while you restore the module configuration using the PMI procedure. To conclude the process reprogram the Passive Anti-Theft System (PATS) through the Key Programming Using Two Programmed Keys procedure.
