2009 Ford Mustang Wiper Switch Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service and repair the wiper switch and steering column multifunction switch on 2009 Ford Mustang?
A: The first step to service or repair the wiper switch alongside the steering column multifunction switch requires removing the instrument cluster finish panel by taking off its retaining clips from the bezel. The service and repair requires removal of the floor console finish panel as well as the LH A-pillar lower trim panel and left center stack wing. First remove the two screws holding the steering column opening cover before disconnecting both headlamp and courtesy light electrical switches. The next step involves removing four bolts that attach to the steering column opening cover reinforcement while tightening them to 9 Nm (80 lb-in) before final installation. Begin step one by cautiously pushing the sides of the upper steering column shroud until it becomes loose then remove the three screws holding the lower steering column shroud. The turn signal/headlamp switch electrical connector needs to be disconnected then it is possible to remove the two switch retaining screws before removing the switch. Begin by disconnecting the electrical connection of the windshield wiper/washer switch and proceed to remove the switch through its two screws. You should perform the installation by reversing the steps used for removal.
