Begin by removing the outlet pipe of the air cleaner then loosen the power steering pump pulley bolts that total three in number. The process requires removing the pressure line bracket-to-crossmember bolt which needs to be tightened to 9 Nm (80 lb-in) when reinstalling. Disconnect the pump from the pressure line while discarding the old Teflon(R) seal and installing a new one before tightening the fitting to 65 Nm (48 lb-ft). The insertion of power steering lines to steering gear must achieve complete seating before clamp plate installation. The clamp plate should remain free of all foreign matter while using the designated torque values to eliminate leakage or equipment breakdown. The installation of new O-ring seals becomes necessary every time operators disconnect the power steering lines from the steering gear. Remove the power steering line clamp plate bolt then rotate the unit while removing the pressure line keeping the old O-ring seal and tightening a replacement according to 23 Nm (17 lb-ft) torque specification. The Teflon(R) seal installer set helps install a new Teflon(R) seal to the pressure line fitting as a part of reversing the removal procedure and filling the power steering system.
