2009 Ford Mustang Washer Reservoir Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service the windshield washer reservoir and pump on 2009 Ford Mustang?
A: Service the windshield washer reservoir along with the pump by setting the vehicle to neutral position on a hoist. First disconnect the electrical connector of the pump followed by draining the washer solvent from the hose. Take out the pump from its mounting position when it requires replacement. Two bolts fasten the fluid reservoir in place but removal is possible when you secure them at 6 Nm (53 lb-in) when reinstalling them. Move on to remove the nut securing the reservoir and return to 6 Nm (53 lb-in) torque values when replacing it. Operation of the windshield washer pump needs to be avoided before filling the reservoir because it will cause premature pump failure. Reverse the uninstallation procedures for reinstalling the service components back into position.
