2009 Ford Ranger Fan Motor Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service the radiator cooling fan motor and shroud for the 2.3L engine on 2009 Ford Ranger?
A: For servicing the radiator cooling fan motor and its shroud on a 2.3L engine start by disconnecting the ground cable from the battery of vehicles equipped with A/C technology. The first step requires air cleaner outlet tube removal followed by any necessary disconnecting of electric cooling fan electrical connectors. After detaching the power steering fluid reservoir by removing its three mounting bolts you should set it aside before retightening these bolts to 6 Nm (53 lb-in). Separate the shroud that contains the electric cooling fan assembly by taking out its two mounting bolts and then lift both components from the vehicle while attaining 7 Nm (62 lb-in) torque on the bolts for reinstalling. The electric cooling fan requires three bolts removal when needed then it must get reinstalled with 8 Nm (71 lb-in) torque. To perform additional disassembly remove the two bolts, electric cooling fan bracket as well as the three electric cooling fan nuts from the fan shroud before tightening them to 8 Nm (71 lb-in) during reinstallation. Finish the operation by performing the opposite actions for removal.
