2009 Ford Ranger Fan Shroud Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to Service the Fan Shroud and Cooling Fan Motor on a 2.3L Engine on 2009 Ford Ranger?
A: During cooling fan motor and shroud servicing of a 2.3L engine you must disconnect the ground cable from the battery if A/C exists. Begin by disconnecting the electric cooling fan electrical connector when possible and then moving to disconnect the ACL outlet tube. Secure the power steering fluid reservoir by removing its three bolts but position it aside while you should tighten each bolt to 6 Nm when reinstalling. Lift the cooling fan shroud assembly with the electric fan when you remove its mounting bolts before replacing it to 7 Nm (62 lb-in) torque. Users should detach the electric cooling fan by unfastening its three bolts and then install it according to a torque specification of 8 Nm (71 lb-in). The procedure allows additional disassembly by removing the two bolts, electric cooling fan bracket and three electric cooling fan nuts from the fan shroud but the reinstallation should be done with 8 Nm (71 lb-in) torque. The procedure ends when the removal steps get inverted.
