2009 Ford Ranger Washer Pump Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to service the windshield washer pump and reservoir for the 2.3L engine on 2009 Ford Ranger?
A: Before servicing the 2.3L engine windscreen washer pump with reservoir you must first read the product label cautions diligently then consult medical professionals about emergencies. Empty the windshield washer reservoir before initiating any work to avoid fluid leakage. The service begins with removing the electrical connector from the windshield washer reservoir pump and liberating the wiring harness retainer. You must remove the Air Cleaner (ACL) assembly before progressing to unscrew the two reservoir bolts and two reservoir nuts which you should tighten to 6 Nm (53 lb-in) during reinstallation. The windshield washer reservoir-to-coolant reservoir stud needs to be removed first followed by placing the coolant reservoir to the side before reaching the washer reservoir. You must disconnect the washer pump hose from the windshield area before carefully removing the washer pump from the washer reservoir by protecting the rubber grommet. The installation process will be finished following the opposite order of removal steps.
