2009 Ford Ranger Wiper Motor Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to service the windshield wiper motor on 2009 Ford Ranger?
A: The windshield wiper motor begins servicing by moving the wiper blades into their straight UP position followed by disconnecting the electrical connector. Secure the PCM connector along with its harness before you detach both the bolt and the nut and stud. First disconnect the PCM electrical connector which you will set the harness to the side. Users should first remove the RH access cover screws to access the windshield wiper motor clip through the opening. Then they should disengage the clip from both RH mounting arm and pivot shaft. Detach the wiper arms from the motor assembly through the process of taking off the RH and LH windshield wiper mounting arms from the pivot shaft while carefully moving them away from the motor. You need to remove the windshield wiper motor by uninstalling its stud and bolts so you can reinstall it with a torque of 9 Nm (80 lb-in) tightness. Seating the mounting arm and pivot shaft retainer clip should be complete before attaching the device to the motor crank pin. The sequence of installation should be LH mounting arm and pivot shaft before RH mounting arm and pivot shaft in reverse order from removal. The windshield wiper motor cannot be repaired due to its damage only allowing a replacement motor installation while users should avoid hitting the motor with objects to prevent damage to its internal permanent magnets.
