- Q: How to Service and Repair the Power Steering Hose on 2009 Lincoln MKX?A: The power steering line repair process starts with hoisting the vehicle in neutral position. Disconnect the pressure line from the steering gear after removing the banjo bolt and throw away the two attached seals. The correct tightening torque for the banjo bolt during reinstallation stands at 48 Nm (35 lb-ft). Afterward loosen the clamp to detach both the return hose from the steering gear and return line. Use 9 Nm (80 lb-in) torque when reinstalling the pressure line bracket to the steering gear by tightening the existing three bolts. Remove the wiring harness nearest to the purge valve electrical connector and the PCM electrical connectors and position them aside. Use a wrench to take out the banjo bolt which secures the pressure line to the power steering pump followed by pressure line disconnect. The two seals go into disposal before ensuring the banjo bolt reaches 48 Nm (35 lb-ft) torque upon reinstallation. To complete the service the technician should fill the power steering system after reversing the entire procedure.
