  A: The first step to work on the shift knob requires removing both the shift knob trim ring and upper console panel from vehicles with a 3.5L engine. Low down the shift knob bezel while discarding the two shift knob screws. Soldering of the light bulb requires experts to remove it from the shift knob bezel but LED units require experts to disconnect their electrical connector. The staff should start by disconnecting the Transmission Control Switch (TCS) electrical connector before removing the wiring harness retainer from the shift knob housing. The tabs on the shift knob allow its knob and bezels to be removed. Every step of the installation process must include insertion of the override lever into the override lever guide to enable shift interlock override button operation. Guide the TCS wiring harness through the lower shift knob bezel and shift knob bezel before attaching the shift knob bezel onto the shift knob. Set the override lever correctly while securing all three locking tabs. Finally, attach the TCS electrical connector before placing its fastener on the shift knob housing.
