How to service and repair the upper intake manifold on Ford E-150?

Starting the upper intake manifold service and repair demands removal of the air cleaner assembly with the engine cover. The first step is to remove the accelerator cable unclips and speed control cable then remove the clip push pin before taking out the accelerator control splash shield by discarding the clip push pin. The installation requires disconnecting the idle air control valve connector before removing the IAC valve assembly. Service of the upper intake manifold begins by disconnecting the throttle body cables of the accelerator control assembly and speed control actuator assembly while disconnecting the cables from their mount on the bracket. Start by removing spark plug wire holders followed by a sequence of taking out 12 bolts mounting the upper intake manifold. Before putting back the parts verify that you have a new accelerator control splash shield clip push pin available and perform necessary inspections on the upper intake manifold gasket replacing it if needed. Sequently fasten bolts first at 6 Nm (53 inch lbs.) and then complete tightening at 10 Nm (89 inch lbs.).
