Ford E-250 Engine Oil Cooler Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to service and repair the Engine Oil Cooler on Ford E-250?
    A:
Service and repair of the Engine Oil Cooler begins with hoisting the car in neutral position. The service professional should drain both engine oil and engine cooling system fluids. Disconnect the two coolant hoses from the oil cooler followed by removing the oil filter which should be discarded. Mechanical issues are present if the oil cooler contains aluminum or metal debris; therefore, you should discard it. The installation process requires you to fit the tab on the oil filter adapter into the new oil cooler notch before positioning the new oil cooler and installing the threaded insert with a torque of 58 Nm (43 ft.lbs). Secure the new oil filter with a torque of 16 Nm (12 ft. lbs). Reassemble the coolant hoses to the oil cooler before finally fastening the oil drain plug to 23 Nm (17 ft. lbs). After installing the drain plug with a proper torque of 23 Nm (17 ft. lbs), replace the engine with clean oil before completing the engine cooling system fill and bleed.
