Ford Edge Power Window Motor Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to service the rear door Power Window Motor and regulator on Ford Edge?
A: The procedure to repair rear door motor and regulator starts by eliminating the back door speaker. You must provide window glass support before cutting the Window Regulator cable during a replacement of the new window regulator assembly. Test the window operation using the window control switch after reattachment. Delete the access plug but lower the window sufficient enough to access the glass clamp bolt while keeping the glass restrained by tape. The regulator should receive support before loosening the glass clamp bolt through the process which requires a tightening force of 9 Nm (80 lb-in) upon completion of reinstallation. Lower the window regulator until it stops at the bottom of the regulator tracks and then disconnect the B-pillar electrical connector. Move the two bolts securing the electrical harness grommet from the door and utilize the speaker hole for access to detach the clip that connects the harness to the door. Unclip the Weather Strip after feeding the wiring harness between the weather strip and door edge gap. Proceed to take out door latch screws before tightening them to 12 Nm (9 lb-ft) during reinstallation. Detach the access plug which serves the latch side of the door before removing the outside Door Handle reinforcement screw and finally the handle. At installation time the screw requires tightening to 8 Nm (71 lbs-in). When a vehicle has the keypad feature it needs to be removed before using a Torx T20 tool to disconnect the nine bolts securing the rear door module for removal. You must transfer key parts before installing the module with 9 Nm (80 lb-in) torque. The installation process ends with executing the reverse steps needed to complete the installation.
