How to Service and Repair the Shift Knob for the Automatic Transmission on Ford Escape?

In order to fix the automatic transmission shifter, be sure the car is in neutral on a hoist. Take off the upper trim ring, and the overdrive switch and the shift knob. Interchange the shifter straw, the switch, and the trim, making sure they are at the right position. Check the shifter in all the gears.
