Ford Excursion Flywheel Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to service the flywheel on Ford Excursion?
    A:
A proper service of the flywheel requires initial preparation for vehicle removal. The service procedure starts with transmission removal and continues with pressure plate and disc removal. Subsequent to the flywheel bolt extraction install the guide studs to the components. You must uninstall the reinforcing ring (7.3L) then the bolts before removing the flywheel assembly with ring gear (7.3L). Finally extract the guide studs. Installation begins with the placement of the flywheel followed by guide studs installation. You must install the flywheel and ring gear assembly after placing in the reinforcing ring (7.3L) then bolt it to position. Continue by removing the guide studs after which you should tighten all bolts to their specified torque value. The vehicle can return to operational status through the installation of clutch disc and pressure plate before reattaching the transmission.
