The correct method for removing transmission fluid filter seals involves caution to prevent damage to the seal bore that may cause transmission failure. Check if a seal exists inside the bore and proceed with its removal. Installation of the new fluid filter and seal assembly must proceed only after removing the previous filter seal. Follow a crisscross pattern when installing the fluid pan together with the gasket and while tightening the pan bolts. Replace the transmission fluid drain plug while filling the transmission with 7.0 liters (7.5 quarts) of clean automatic transmission fluid through the filler tube.
