How to service the fuel filler hose safely on Ford Expedition?

Start the fuel filler hose service by placing the vehicle in NEUTRAL and hoisting it. The first step includes disconnection of the battery ground cable followed by the removal of the fuel filler door cup bezel. Secure the fuel tank filler pipe to the body with three screws then tighten them to 1 Nm (9 lb-in) timing when reinstalling. Use a pair of tools to detach both the fuel tank filler pipe vent tube at the fuel tank pressure sensor and vapor tube assembly quick connect coupling. Begin the fuel tank filler pipe hose removal from the fuel tank by loosening the hose clamp before you finally tighten the clamp to 3 Nm (27 lb-in) while installing. When reinstalling the support brackets of the fuel tank filler pipe remove the two frame-bolted brackets and tighten them to 15 Nm (133 lb-in). After fuel tank filler pipe assembly removal you should follow the reverse process to install it. Warning against using fuel in proximity to smoking materials or personal electronics and using lighted tobacco products because the volatile fuel mixtures present serious fire risks that can cause severe personal harm.
