Ford Explorer Sport Trac Tail Pipe Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to Service and Repair the Tail Pipe on Ford Explorer Sport Trac?
A: Service and repair of the tailpipe begins by positioning the vehicle on a hoist at NEUTRAL gear. Open the Torca® clamp which connects the Muffler to the tail pipe first before removing the rubber isolator and the tail pipe itself. The installation requires positioning the tailpipe before connecting the rubber isolator. Rephrase the procedure by clearing the rust from the muffler assembly-to-tail pipe surface with an abrasive pad. Follow the muffler assembly alignment to place the tab inside the notch of the tailpipe before tightening the Torca® clamp to 48 Nm (35 lb-ft). Exhaust system alignment must be performed to achieve proper installation only when the isolators show loading above zero levels. Wash the isolators with water-based lubes to avoid damage while using brand-new fasteners of identical part numbers to original pieces at specified torque settings for exhaust part retention.
