How to service the Steering Shaft on Ford Explorer?

Service of the steering column shaft starts with preventing the intermediate shaft rotation after disconnection because this affects the Clock Spring; if rotation has occurred the Clock Spring needs to be removed and re-set. The intermediary shaft detach process begins with bolt removal from the steering column then permanent disposal of this bolt. The upper intermediate shaft separation from the lower intermediate shaft requires you to remove the bolt which you should discard. The technician needs to extract the upper intermediate shaft alongside the bolts and dash seal. After raising and supporting the vehicle you can disconnect the lower intermediate shaft with a bolt which you must discard. The service ends through executing the reverse order of removal for installing the components.
